Please forward this to Foundations..
You probably heard that Patience and I were in a car accident on the way
out of town Monday morning to a weeklong church planting meeting in
Atlanta. Someone hit us from behind while we were traveling on 459 and
this knocked our car into the concrete median. I have only minimal
injuries. Unfortunately Patience suffered a broken ankle, collapsed
lung, fractured rib and slightly fractured sternum. The baby is fine.
Patience will undergo ankle surgery this afternoon and we hope to be
discharged by end of the week.
We are thankful for the Lord's sovereign protection over us. This is
not how we planned to spend our week, but obviously how He did. Please
pray for the surgery, for the baby during that time, and for Patience's
pain level (she is very uncomfortable with the chest tube particularly).
We are so thankful and overwhelmed by everyone's love and offers of
support. In God's timing I had preached a sermon at Cahaba Park this
weekend on John 17:20-23 - the privilege of God's community, the
community of believers as a pointer to God, and the personal nature of
community, lived out thru service, prayer and love. We are receiving
all of this firsthand and are grateful.
