All Adult Sunday School – November 27
On Sunday, November 27, all adult Sunday Schools will meet in the Fellowship Hall at 9:45 a.m.
Christmas in the City
We are partnering with Mission Birmingham in providing Christmas gifts for inner city children and families. Stop by the display in the church foyer today to pick up an instruction packet with a child’s name and “wish list” items. Gifts must be dropped off no later than November 20 under the Christmas trees located in the Sanctuary foyer and 1st and 2nd floor lobbies of the Children’s Building.
Hanging of the Green – November 29 and 30!
We need all helping hands beginning November 29 (10 a.m. – 3 p.m.) to decorate our church for Christmas. Please bring all greenery and we will begin our decorating in the Sanctuary. On November 30 (10:30 a.m. – 3 p.m.) we will decorate the outside of our buildings. Please bring clippers, willing hands and new ideas. Contact Chappell Miller to volunteer at 870-4600 (home), 529-5777 (cell) or by email, chap06@charter.net.
Nursery Bonus Fund
Please think about giving to the Nursery Bonus Fund this year. If everyone who is able - gives, we will truly be able to provide these women with a very special gift to help them during the Christmas season and as a way to begin the year with extra money for expenses they may incur.
To give simply place a check made payable to Covenant Presbyterian Church in the offertory plate and note on the memo line "Nursery Bonus Fund". We would like to receive as many gifts as possible by December 4.
Christmas Countdown
Ladies, you will not want to miss this year's Christmas Countdown. Mark your calendar for Tuesday, November 29th at 6:00 pm. We will gather in the Sanctuary to hear from our own Melissa Wood, then enjoy hors d'oeuvres and desserts, make advent wreaths, and see Christmas ideas to fill your heart and home with Comfort and Joy. Reservations are not required; however, to help us plan, please register on the sign up sheet in Sunday School and indicate if you will be bringing a guest! Please contact Laura Tucker at ltucker@covpres.com for childcare.
Attached is a graphic you can use to print out and invite a friend. If you can think of someone who has been visiting, or may not be plugged in to a Sunday School class, please consider calling them and inviting them! We are still in some need of some help in a few areas. Please email Tracystephens@charter.net if you are available to help in the following ways: 1. We need a few people to help hand out advent wreath supplies the night of the event. After Melissa Wood speaks in the Sanctuary, we will move into the fellowship hall to enjoy delicious food, look at beautiful Christmas inspiration tables, and make advent wreaths. Helping out with the wreaths will entail handing people wreaths, greenery, pins, etc... 2. If you have any greenery that you can share with us, there is a plastic bin outside the church office to put it in. If you are out trimming your holly bushes this weekend, we would love your clippings for our advent wreaths! 3. We need a few hands in the kitchen for food preparation. Ingram will be working on Monday and Tuesday morning. 4. We need some people to help set up the night of the event, starting around 4:00. 5. We need some people to help clean up after the event. Thank you so much!
Church Office Holiday Schedule
The Church Office will be closed on Thursday and Friday, November 24 and 25, for the Thanksgiving holiday.
Covenant Chronicles
We pray that all of you have a wonderful Thanksgiving this week as you spend some extended time with family. For those traveling we hope you have safe travels. We look forward to spending the Advent season with you when you return.
Fill our church with grace, Lord Jesus Christ, that every thought, word, and deed may be acceptable to You, our Rock and our Redeemer.
