Discovery Clubs (DC) is a ministry that goes into urban schools around Birmingham to provide an after-school program that includes Bible stories and songs, prayer, and small group discussions with the purpose of introducing and leading the children to Jesus. This is such a wonderful ministry because so many of these children have never heard/understood who Jesus is and what He has done for us. The clubs meet once a week from 3-4pm. As most of us have either full time jobs in and outside the home during this time, we are unable to actually go into the schools but can still be involved in helping this ministry reach these children.
As the school year starts up, Discovery Clubs could use some help in assembling packets of materials for “salvation bracelets” which the children will make as a craft. All of the materials are available for pickup at DC’s office off of Valley Avenue and can be assembled at your home (easy for older children to assist with, to do during lunch breaks, or while zoning out watching the Olympics, etc.).
