Thank you for your prayers (and to sweet Valerie Tarn for coming to see us while we were at the urologists!). It looks like it is, indeed, a hernia, and that surgery is in his future, but the situation is not as urgent as the pediatrician had indicated it might be. We are monitoring it for now and will talk about scheduling a surgery in the not-to-distant future.
Thank you for all of your prayers! I'd much rather be sick myself than to see a child struggling. It reminded me of how Christ must have felt when he looked at us, in our pitiful sinful state, and how he lifted the burden, and placed it on himself.
In any case, I am so thankful for the prayers, and that this is something relatively minor and fixable with surgery.
