Class members,
Through our new hospitality initiative called Foundations Cares, we have been collecting frozen casseroles, soups, other things that freeze well and keeping them in the freezers of Karon Staples, Cary Murray, and Katherine Turnage. These frozen meals have been used to help Foundations members who perhaps have a lot on their plates right now with family, illness, etc and could use an extra meal or two in their freezers! We will continue to sign up for meals for new babies and other Foundations events; we just thought it would be great to expand this ministry in new ways!
So far, we have had 12 soups and casseroles that have already come through and been given out to members of our class in need (sick children, sick parents, etc). It has been a wonderful ministry and way to "take care" of our class. However, we are running low! So, tomorrow, (TUESDAY) March 6, will be a designated "Stock the Freezer" day.
There will be coolers on the front porches of the drop off points listed below. We hope this will make things simple and easy. Please bring your food in a disposable pan wrapped in aluminum foil. On the foil, please write what your meal is, the date and cooking instructions. Your meal can be homemade or store bought. Our hope is that this will be an ongoing ministry so whenever you have a chance to double a recipe or grab a frozen meal from a store, please do so! If you or someone you know could benefit from Foundations Cares, please let Katherine, Karon or Cary know. Please feel free to email Katherine with questions ( Katherine Turnage kwturnage@yahoo.com) THANK YOU SO MUCH!
