Well, it looks like you're stuck with the Lattas as your social coordinators for another year... Please direct all complaints to management.
Our first big event is planned for Sunday, October 24th at the new Railroad Park in downtown Birmingham. We are planning a family picnic beginning at 4pm and concluding at the point the first person has an accident at the skate park. We will combine this with a Missions emphasis which Laura Averette is coordinating. Technically, we know it's Rusty and Laura, but who are we kidding. It's Laura. We'll be taking donations and decorating shoeboxes for Samaritan's purse which will begin its Operation Christmas Child event Nov.1. We are also going to take donations for the Love in Action Food Pantry so clip those coupons and stockpile so you can share with others! With the size and generosity of our class, there is NO excuse for Foundations not to stock both of these organizations to the hilt. I will have something in Sunday School about items that are needed for both OCC and LIA. But for right now, simply mark your calendars for 10.24 @4pm.
Also, quick reader poll: would you like to continue our tradition of the Christmas brunch with families or would you prefer an evening dinner with just adults (and if so, would you volunteer your house!)? Email me at bwlatta@samford.edu with your preferences. I need to go ahead and make those arrangements so I want to get an idea of what you as a class want.
