Foundations News 2/12-2/19 PLEASE READ - LOTS OF IMPORTANT INFO!

Hi everyone, please take a few minutes to read over this entire message as there is A LOT going in Foundations! Thanks, Cary

SOCIAL:

As a reminder, the guys in the class are getting together for lunch this Friday. If interested, email Joshua Threadcraft at JThreadcraft@gmail.com

MISSIONS:

Please refer to the Missions Festival schedule attached to this email for all things Missions Festival!

1. An important message from Bruce McLeod about 24-Hour Missions Prayer:

Please know that the 24-Hour Missions Prayer is one of the most important events that we can support as a church body during all of the activities of Missions Week at Covenant. I want to encourage you all to find a time when you can come and cry out to the Lord for Him to move on our behalf, and to move on behalf of the missionaries and their families who are on the seeming thin, front line, where the warfare is great and where the needs are great. Let's put our shoulder to the task and enjoy the time together on our knees as we lend a hand to seek His face on their behalf.

"And they devoted themselves to the ministry of the Word and to prayer..." Please review the attached spreadsheet, find a time slot that needs to be filled, and respond to Phyllis Hamm via email at "Phyllis Hamm" <phamm@covpres.com<mailto:phamm@covpres.com>>.

Let's fill the Tower Room and spill out into the Balcony with praying men and women doing battle for our brothers and sisters who are battling against the kingdom of darkness.

May His rich blessings be on you and yours as you move out in obedience to serve in this way.

Bruce McLeod, Prayer Elder

2. An important message from Jocelyn Martin concerning KIDMissions:

The children's ministry is needing some help with a few volunteers during Mission Week coming up at the end of February.  In years past, people have volunteered to stay & help with crowd control, however, that number gets smaller every year – down to 1 dad last year.  We are in need of 3 couples on Sunday, Monday & Wednesday night so I was hoping that each of your Adult SS classes could take a night.  We just need some extra hands for crowd control from 630 – 730 PM. FOUNDATIONS has been asked to cover Monday night, 2/27 in room C316. We need three couples from our class to cover this shift. Please email Cary at cmurray1228@gmail.com if you can do this.

3. An important message from the Taylors concerning our class Missions Dessert on 2/28:

Roddy and Katherine Taylor, our class Missions Coordinators, will open up their home on Tuesday, February 28th at 6:30 p.m. for our class to meet and have dessert with two guest missionaries, Tim and Theresa Simpson (East West Ministries - Middle East/Russia) and John and Samantha Hudson (100 Fold - Montana).  So, save the date of Tuesday, Feb 28! Their address is 1868 Southwood Road in Vestavia.  Childcare provided! Contact Laura at ltucker@covpres.com.  If you are planning on attending, please contact the Taylors (rntaylor@southernco.com or mctaylor01@bellsouth.ncom).

HOSPITALITY:

Your servant team is excited to announce a new hospitality project for our class!  It's called Foundations Cares.  We will begin collecting frozen casseroles, soups, other things that freeze well and keeping them in the freezers of Karon Staples, Cary Murray, and Katherine Turnage.  These frozen meals will be used to help Foundations members who perhaps have a lot on their plates right now with family, illness, etc and could use an extra meal or two in their freezers! We will continue to sign up for meals for new babies and other Foundations events; we just thought it would be great to expand this ministry in new ways!

How to help? To make it easy for everyone we will have three food drop off points:

Cary Murray

1735 Kensington Road

Homewood

205-213-8413

Karon Staples

3810 Montevallo Rd

Crestline

205-567-3302

Katherine Turnage

1905 Southwood Road

Vestavia

205-306-1451

With the majority of our class living in these areas, we hope that one of these homes will be convenient for you.  Please text or call any of us above and let us know that you will be dropping off your meal.   Please bring your food in a disposable pan wrapped in aluminum foil.  On the foil, please write what your meal is, the date and cooking instructions.  Your meal can be homemade or store bought.  Ashley Mac's, Edgewood  Catering and Dish N Out have some wonderful frozen dinners that you can pick up as well.  Ingram Link and Traci Parker also have a weekly dinner service where you can order meals.  For more information you can email Traci at peauparker@bellsouth.net. Our hope is that this will be an ongoing ministry so whenever you have a chance to double a recipe or grab a frozen meal from a store, please do so! We hope that you will be as excited about this initiative as we are. If you or someone you know could benefit from Foundations Cares, please let myself, Karon or Cary know.  Please feel free to email me with any questions.  Thanks in advance for your support!
